Route 2 Brews in Lowell Closes

Route 2 Brews in Lowell Closes

by Indiana On Tap editorial staff

In a short Facebook post on Sunday, February 11, owner and brewer Chris Fast announced that Route 2 Brews in Lowell has closed its taproom effective immediately. Chris opened the brewery three years ago and had built a small, but loyal following in northwest Indiana.

Beers such as the Monkey Junk and Horny Hefer had been bottled and distributed in northern Indiana, but may not be replenished in stores once the supplies run out. Chris thanked his patrons for their support when he announced the taproom closing, but did not state whether the brewery would stop making beer.

He did state that gift certificates will be honored and that patrons with certificates should contact the brewery for resolution. Route 2 Brews had served at Winterfest just last weekend, so this announcement took many by surprise. We at Indiana On Tap hope that Route 2 Brews may return in the future or that Chris finds a new position in the brewing community very soon.
