Fort Wayne, IN, January, 15, 2019Hop River Brewing Company celebrates 2019’s first total lunar eclipse in partnership with the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society and Riverfront Fort Wayne in conjunction with the release of their third canned beer, Midnight Retreat, an Imperial Stout.

Midnight Retreat – Imperial Stout:  8.5% ABV

Extremely dark, with a thick tan head, this big guy can sneak up on you.  Dark chocolate, roasted coffee, stone fruit, and other mysterious flavors live in this dark world.

The Super Wolf Blood Moon begins on Sunday night, January 20 and will reach eclipse totality at 12:12am on Monday, January 21. The Fort Wayne Astronomical Society will be here to help our community observe the eclipse and teach the public more about what we are seeing, how often it occurs, and learn about all the great things our local organization offers.

On the brewery’s patio, Fort Wayne Astronomical Society (FWAS) volunteers will set up a pair of space binoculars for an up-close look at the full moon. Inside the taproom, Riverfront Fort Wayne will broadcast a live stream of the eclipse on a large screen. Also, FWAS volunteers will be around to answer questions about the lunar eclipse, our local observatory, or how you can get involved in your local community of astronomy enthusiasts. Riverfront Fort Wayne will be available to answer questions about their upcoming events and educational opportunities as well

We encourage our community to take advantage of this engaging, educational opportunity for all-ages, as it is the night of Martin Luther King Day, when many local schools are closed.

“We are all about being a place of community.  Having the opportunity to release my favorite beer as an event and partnering with the awesome group of dedicated Fort Wayne stargazers and those promoting the natural beauty of the rivers around us, is something we could not pass up.,” states Ben Jackson, Co-Owner of Hop River Brewing Company.
