Fuzzy’s Vodka Returns to Hoosier Roots, Moves Distillery Operations to Cardinal Spirits in Bloomington

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Indianapolis, IN (November 20, 2019) – Fuzzy’s Vodka has officially shifted its distilling and bottling operations to Cardinal Spirits in Bloomington, Ind. The brand will now produce its signature, 80-proof vodka, crafted with locally sourced, midwestern corn at this new location.

The vodka brand is owned by Indiana-native and golf legend Frank Urban “Fuzzy” Zoeller, Jr. Fuzzy’s professional career produced 10 PGA Tour victories, including the 1979 Masters and the 1984 U.S. Open. He’s also a self-proclaimed vodka connoisseur, and co-founded Fuzzy’s Spirits, LLC, the parent company for Fuzzy’s Vodka, more than 10 years ago.

“This all started because someone approached me about making a private label wine,” said Zoeller. “I don’t drink wine. So, my business manager said to me, ‘Why don’t you just make a vodka instead? You sure do drink enough of it.’ That was 13 years ago, and here we are today.”

Zoeller has additional business in Indiana, as owner of both Covered Bridge Golf Club and Champions Pointe Golf Club in Southern Indiana. His passion for golf has transferred to the vodka business, which is shown front and center through the product’s golf-centric packaging.

“The vodka was produced in Oregon to start, but I really wanted to bring it home to Indiana. We found a great partner in Cardinal Spirits that can produce an exceptional vodka following our proprietary formula,” said Zoeller.

The production shift to Cardinal Spirits in Bloomington happened, in part, due to changing state regulations that now allow co-packaging of spirits. Indiana State Senator Ron Alting has been an advocate for enacting this and other legislation to grow the Indiana spirits industry, helping to improve production and sales processes for everyone from local farmers to distillers, business owners and more.

“This is a great economic development opportunity, creating jobs and boosting commerce for our state,” Alting said. “I’m thrilled Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka will now be distilled and bottled in Indiana. This is only fitting, considering, Fuzzy, a longtime friend of mine, is a native Hoosier and an Indiana icon.”

Fuzzy’s Vodka is quickly earning recognition as a top American-made vodka. It received a 95 Point Rating in the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, earned Gold from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and more.

The vodka is certified gluten free, distilled five times, and charcoal-filtered 10 times. Adding to its distinct flavor profile, a portion of the distillate is rested in new American oak barrels to complete the vodka’s rare and extremely unique process.

“Today, I’m raising a glass to how far we’ve come as a brand, with continued growth in Indiana and beyond,” said Zoeller. “If you want to know what’s in my glass, it’s my signature drink – Fuzzy’s Vodka, tonic and a squeeze of lime, served on the rocks.”
