Factotum Brewhouse & Tow Yard Brew Beer In Tribute To Famous Quarterback

For Immediate Release
Factotum Brewhouse (Denver) and Tow Yard Brewing Co. (Indianapolis) today announced they will be collaborating on a beer that honors the professional quarterback significant to both cities.  The beer will be available at both breweries’ taprooms as well as at the 3rd annual Collaboration Fest in Denver, a beer festival in which all beers are collaborations between Colorado Brewers Guild members and other breweries.  Factotum will visit Tow Yard on November 7th—the day before Denver plays Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium—to brew the batch that will be served in Indianapolis.  Tow Yard will visit Denver in early 2016 to brew the batch that will be available at the festival.

The beer will be a representation of the athlete and his career.  The brewers know from a January, 2014 post-game press conference that said athlete enjoys light, domestic lagers so, to keep in accordance with his palate, this collaborative beer will be a light and easy-drinking pale ale—but with a few twists.

Laura Bruns, co-owner of Factotum, says, “We had always thought it would be fun to do a beer like this with ingredients from all the places he’s played football: New Orleans, Knoxville, Indy, and Denver.”  While no breweries from Louisiana or Tennessee replied to Factotum’s invitation to collaborate, Tow Yard, the brewery closest to Lucas Oil Stadium and the host venue for the Blue Crew, did respond.

Tony Fleming, head brewer of Tow Yard Brewing Co., says, “We are very excited to give Indianapolis craft beer lovers something to commemorate a former player and pillar of our community while connecting with football fans of Denver through craft beer.”  The beer will feature corn to represent Indiana and sage to represent Colorado.  Also, because the honoree has played for both horse-themed professional football teams, the beer will contain oats.  The beer will be named Oatmaha, an homage to the ingredient and the quarterback’s favorite play call.

Collaboration Fest will be held on March 19, 2016 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.  Tickets are not on sale yet but will be available at the Collaboration Fest website.
