5 Reasons to Visit Scarlet Lane Brewery

If you’ve read any of my recent content for Indiana On Tap, you may have guessed that I like Scarlet Lane Brewery. I’m a member of their Legion of the Ale Drinkers, and I regularly retreat to their taproom for a pint of Dorian in any variety. If you’ve never visited Scarlet Lane yourself, here’s a list of 5 reasons why you should get there right now.

1. The Bar Staff
   The tap room manager, Lea, and her daughter, Alex. I always know that I can go to Scarlet Lane by myself and still feel like I went with friends.

2. Legion Of The Ale Drinkers 
   This is Scarlet Lane’s lifelong membership program. For $85 ($75 if you’re also a member of the Tasting Society Marketplace) you get a special 22oz glass – the equivalent of a bomber – which gets filled for the standard 16-20oz price ($5.50). You get an awesome membership card, 20% off all merchandise, $50 corny kegs, and a plethora of bonuses at random times.

3. Keep the Pint Glass Wednesday
   For $7.50 you get a pint of any beer in a unique glass, which is yours to keep after you finish your beer.

4. Growler Fills of Lenore Dry-Hopped Ale 
   Full 64oz growler fills of this “unique and approachable ale with a clean dry-hop finish” are only $7, every day of the week.  Your first one is only $4 if you are a member of the Tasting Society Marketplace.

5. Dogs 
   If your dog is friendly, then they are welcome at Scarlet Lane. And I don’t mean you can sit in the corner of the patio. My dog, Thor, is basically a Legion member himself: he has a blanket at Scarlet Lane so he can get on the couch without covering it in hair. Lea is always quick to bring him a big bowl of water and a handful of treats. He enjoys being there just as much as I do.

Just in case that wasn’t enough for you, this Friday (5/27) is Caplinger’s Fish Party and Saturday (5/28) is Bloodaxe Day. Eirik Bloodaxe is a Braggot, which is an ancient Viking beer made with honey, hops, fruit, and spices. All natural honey and blood orange mix with an imperial IPA making for a dangerously easy drinking Imperial Ale. (11%ABV 80 IBU). Blood Orange season is over, so this will be the last chance to get this delicious beer until next year.
