Cyclists and craft beer enthusiasts alike gathered this past Saturday, April 4th to join Indiana On Tap for the second annual Tour De Biere, a six-stop bike tour highlighting some of Bloomington’s best craft beer and spirit makers.

As rain-soaked as the previous day was, the riders could not have asked for a more beautiful day to ride and drink, with tempteratures climbing from low-40s as we pushed off towards Cardinal Spirits for their Derailleur Bloody Mars made with Serrano and Habanero peppers and pineapples, to the 60s as we ended our ride celebrating the release of Bloomington Brewing Company’s 10 Speed Hoppy Wheat. Stops between included lunch at The Tap Beer Company, Function Brewing, where co-owner Arlyn Llewellyn provided riders with their very first Bloomington Ale Trail stamp (more information on the Ale Trail here), Quaff On! Bloomington, who had reserved their outdoor patio for the tour group, and Upland Brewing Company, where riders got to tour the brewery’s famous sours facility and barrel room.

The ride culminated in the 10 Speed release party, where patrons could try both the standard variation, along with two versions, one brewed with pineapples and another with cherry and vanilla flavors, while also purchasing bottles of the seasonal release. Partygoers could also enter into a raffle to win multiple prizes, including a 1988 Trek bicycle refurbished by the team at Salt Creek Cycles.

Indiana On Tap would like the thank each stop as well as the ride’s sponsors for helping make the second annual Tour De Biere a success! Sponsor of the rider were:

  • Brewers of Indiana Guild and Bloomington Craft Beer Festival
  • GnawBrew Beer, Art and Music Festival
  • Upland Brewing Co.
  • Bloomington Brewing Co.
  • Quaff On! Bloomington
  • Cardinal Spirits
  • The Tap Beer Company
