25 Jun New Paradigm Brewing offering free weddings to same-sex couples Wednesday night

ELKHART — Any couple — regardless of gender or sex — who wants to get married in Elkhart Wednesday night can do it for free at New Paradigm Brewing Co.
Brandon Stanley owns the downtown bar and is an ordained minister with Universal Life Church. He performs mostly non-religious ceremonies for couples throughout the year.
He said he will perform marriages for free tonight in support of the ruling a federal judge issued Wednesday, June 25, striking down Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage.
“I’ve always been in support (of gay marriage),” Stanley said. “It’s not about whether it’s a man and a woman, it’s about whether two people love each other. If I have an opportunity to be a part of it and show my support, I’m going to do it.”
Straight couples may also come to the bar to get married.
“I certainly wouldn’t discriminate,” Stanley said with a laugh. “It wouldn’t be fair of me.”
Couples interested in getting hitched can arrive at the bar anytime after it opens at 5 p.m. and must bring a marriage license issued by an Elkhart County clerk.
Anyone with questions may call the bar at (574) 295-8882.
New Paradigm Brewing Co. is located at 600 S. Main St.
UPDATE:
@IndianaOnTap in light of the delay from the county issuing marriage licenses we are going to extend our offer through the weekend.
