Locally-owned brewery, MashCraft Brewing, has expanded its Fishers location to include an interactive patio with two pickleball courts. The expanded patio area adds 3,500 sq. ft, complimenting its 30 outdoor seats, 110+ indoor dining seats, and full menu.

The expansion comes on the heels of increased demand for the fastest growing sport in the U.S with over 4 million players and 40 percent growth in just two years. Indy Pickleball Club is even in on the game, offering clinics each Wednesday evening, weather permitting.

“MashCraft was created to provide great beer and great service,” said owner Joe Janik. “These new pickleball courts add to the already great customer experience. Now families can come to MashCraft to eat good food, play fun games, and adults can drink great beer, too.”

Pickleball courts will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis through a board located near the courts. For corporate and community events, the courts can be reserved through the website. Courts are available for immediate use. Patrons must bring their own paddle and ball.

Owner Joe Janik told me that the courts were finished about three and a half weeks ago, but MashCraft made the announcement of their opening just last week. The space that was used as their expanded outdoor seating during Covid is the same space occupied by the courts now, with permanent fencing up. They lost about 12 parking spaces, but the total number for the complex is still well within normal limits.

He added that people have been very respectful of the fact that the courts are for MashCraft patrons only, and they do rotate in and out so the most people can enjoy the games. He finished by stating that during the busiest periods of the year, you can reserve a court up to three days in advance, with singles getting 1.5 hours of time and doubles receiving 2 hours/reservation.

The courts represent a significant investment for MashCraft, but they seem to being paying off even this soon. I visited on a Thursday evening and both courts were full, with multiple teams waiting their turn, and the indoor dining was also filled, with the seats facing the windows toward the courts being especially popular. Heck they’ve even changed one of the Chive TV monitors to show professional pickleball tour matches.
