24 Feb Heorot Pub & Draught House Again Named Best Beer Bar in Indiana by CraftBeer.com

CraftBeer.com, the online magazine of the Brewers Association has released its “2018 Great American Beer Bars” list. The press release from February 26, 2018, quoted Jess Baker, the editor in chief for CraftBeer.com as saying, “CraftBeer.com readers have an extensive level of insight on what makes a beer bar truly stand out.”
He added, “The Great American Beers Bars, selected by nearly 8,000 individual nominations cast by CraftBeer.com readers, are each stewards of quality craft beer and beer service. These outstanding beer bars, taprooms and brewpubs introduce their customers to new and exciting beer experiences, and have been integral to the success of the independent craft brewing movement.”
The Heorot Pub & Draught House has again been named the best beer bar in Indiana. Founded in 1994 by Stan Stephens, Heorot has also been home to Wolve’s Head Brewing since 2012. Owner Stan is a Viking aficionado; there is a Viking long house on the second floor and Heorot is actually the mead hall mentioned in the great Viking epic poem Beowulf.
The Heorot has previously been named best beer bar in Indiana for at least six years running by Draft Magazine, and is credited (along with the Fickle Peach) as bringing craft beer education to Muncie. More than 70 craft beers are on tap at any one time, and there are also 350 or more bottled beers at the ready all the time. Several beers will be on special at any one time, allowing for experimentation and craft beer learning at all times.
For the CraftBeer.com survey of bars, readers were asked to nominate their favorite bars and explain what makes them so good. More than 7700 votes were cast from Nov. 2017 to Jan. 2018.

He winners in states neighboring Indiana were; Brown Iron Brewhouse north of Detroit, The Brass Tap in Orland Park, IL, Brewfontaine in Bellefontaine, OH, and Holy Grale in Louisville, KY (oh, yes).
