Cardinal Spirits Announces Release of First Ever Bourbon

For Immediate Release:

Cardinal Spirits has announced the release of their very first bourbon this Friday at the distillery located at 922 S. Morton St., in Bloomington.

This Single Barrel Bourbon comes from Barrel #9, and it was fermented, mashed, distilled and bottled entirely on site at Cardinal Spirits. It is made with 4 grains sourced from Indiana farmers: corn and wheat from Glick in Columbus, and barley and rye from Sugar Creek Malt Company in Lebanon. It was aged in a new American Oak barrel.

It aged a year and two months. Unlike some other distilleries, it’s important to note that Cardinal Spirits does not have any bourbon that is older than its distillery.  It’s all fermented, mashed, distilled and bottled on site at Cardinal Spirits.

This bourbon is distinctly Indiana. You’ll notice a pleasant corn sweetness first, then a nice, rich mouthfeel, and a peppery finish. Some bourbons just taste like corn; this is more interesting and finishes strong. Because of the high-quality mash bill, it stands up against any big-name bourbon. The Single Barrel Bourbon is 110 proof. They intentionally kept a high proof to give you control of how you drink it – add a bit of water at a time to a neat pour to suit your taste. It also means that a single bottle can go far.

The price is $42 for a 375ml bottle, and bottles will be released at noon this Friday, Oct. 14.
