Books & Brews Franchising, LLC Announces Brewing Agreement with Flat12 Bierwerks

April 27, 2017 INDIANAPOLIS – Books & Brews Franchising LLC, Indiana’s fastest growing craft beer tap room, and Flat12 Bierwerks, a production craft brewery located in the fast-growing Holy Cross neighborhood in Indianapolis, announced today that they have entered into a brewing agreement that supports strategic growth objectives for both companies. Flat12 Bierwerks will begin brewing: Nancy – Citra-hopped Pale Ale, Clifford – Irish Red Ale, Shogun Soba Ale – Amber Ale brewed with Buckwheat, Charlie – Chocolate Milk Stout, and Cream & Punishment – Cream Ale. These five staple Books & Brews beers will be available in half bbl and six, 12-oz cans for distribution. In addition, these beers will be available at all current and future Books & Brews locations in the State of Indiana.

The agreement between Books & Brews Franchising LLC and Flat12 Bierwerks provides benefits for both companies, allowing Books & Brews the ability to meet demand for the growth of its products, and allowing Flat12 to continue to expand its footprint. “We’ve been impressed with everyone on the Books & Brews team,” said Andy Teed, co-owner of Flat12. “Jason has innovated a terrific concept with his stores, built a great team, and created outstanding beer. We’re looking forward to supporting him, his team, and his franchisees by brewing and packaging his core beers with our high-quality processes and equipment.”

Books & brews Franchising LLC has sold its first franchise agreement with a new location opening the summer of 2017 in Carmel, Indiana. In addition to the Indianapolis and Zionsville location, a third company owned store will be opening in Muncie in late summer/early fall of 2017. Future expansion is in the works and Books & Brews Franchising expects to open more locations within the year. Under this agreement, Flat12 Bierwerks will be the exclusive supplier of the five staple beers in the State of Indiana.

“I have a lot of respect for everyone at Flat12 and that’s why they were the first brewery I thought of when I came up with this idea,” said Jason Wuerfel, founder and CEO of Books & Brews. “This deal gives us the flexibility to focus on opening more locations without worrying that we won’t be able to make enough beer to keep up with demand. It’s a win-win for Books & Brews and Flat12, but it’s also a win for our customers, who will be able to find these five beers on tap and in cans at all times, at every B&B location and all across Indiana.”

About Flat12 Bierwerks
Flat12 Bierwerks was formed in 2010 just east of downtown Indianapolis in the Holy Cross neighborhood. Their sustainable success is attributable to their passion for offering high-quality, unique, and enjoyable beers for all pallets. The ingenuity of the Flathead 12-cylinder engine revolutionized racing in the great state if Indiana. Flat12 Bierwerks fosters that same spirit of ingenuity with every beer they create.

About Books & Brews
Books & Brews Used Bookstore and Taproom opened its first store in Indianapolis in March 2014 with a simple mission in mind: provide a place for people without a place; where all are accepted, appreciated, and encouraged to be themselves. Founder and chief executive officer, Jason Wuerfel was a stay at home dad of his then newborn daughter when he started brewing his own beer at home. Jason’s first few recipes are still represented in the staple lineup including: Clifford, Charlie, and Shogun. He combined these recipes with his deep love for books, games, and video games to open the first Books & Brews location in Indianapolis.
