An Indiana On Tap Exclusive

Indiana’s State Forest Back Country areas make up less than 5% of our State Forests, and have recently been opened to commercial logging by private companies, despite public opposition.  In the past decade, annual logging on state forests has increased 1000%.

The Indiana Forest Alliance is dedicated to protecting Indiana’s public forests, for the benefit of biodiversity within deep forest habitat, as well as wilderness recreation.

Bloomington Brewing Company (BBC) has partnered with The IFA to create Back Country Session IPA. The beer was showcased at the IFA’s annual Toast to the Trees fundraiser, where Jeff Mease, Founder of the Bloomington Brewing Company, announced the BBC-IFA partnership.

Back Country Session IPA is a 5% ABV/54 IBU India Pale Ale, brewed with Pale, Caramel-60, and Vienna malts, and hopped with Nugget, Cascade, Amarillo, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. The beer is lower in alcohol than other IPAs and is perfect for summer outing in the Back Country.

The first time the general public will have to try Back Country Session IPA is this Thursday, June 19th from 4 to 6 PM at Lennie’s/Bloomington Brewing Company, located at 1795 E 10th St in Bloomington.

10% of the brewery sales of BBC Back Country Session IPA will help support IFA’s continued efforts to preserve our Indiana State Forests for future generations.  BBC and IFA plan to introuce Back County in cans in the spring of 2015.

We hope to see you at BBC on Thursday!

Bloomington Brewing Company was established in 1994, after co-founder and CEO Jeff Mease successfully lobbied the Indiana legislature to change Indiana alcoholic beverage laws that were very discouraging to small breweries.

Bloomington Brewing Co. was the fourth modern-era brewpub in the state and the first in Southern Indiana.
