A Hipster Dad’s Guide To The Indiana State Fair

I’ve been accused of being a hipster. Our kids, too, by extension. I get it. I have a beard. I was reporting on indie music, urban farming, craft beer and bike culture before they became default interests for city dwellers of a certain age. My wife runs a festival and a shop devoted to handmade goods. Our kids are named Zeke and Clementine. I don’t think of myself that way, but like I said, I get it.

We didn’t ride our penny-farthings to this year’s Indiana State Fair, and the clothes we wore were neither thrifted nor artisanally crafted. But our perspective is just far enough off center that my peers wanted to get this hipster dad’s perspective on what’s awesome about the fair this year. Frankly, there’s a lot, so here goes.
