More than 75,000 people are expected to flood Indianapolis for the men’s Final Four competition April 4 and 6. Whether you’ll be one of those 75,000 or someone who stops in another time, you’ll find plenty of things to keep you occupied in our nation’s ninth-largest city. Here are five great ways to enjoy this pretty town in the Heartland.

Get moving. Rent some wheels from Indiana Pacers Bikeshare and pedal along the innovative 8-mile Indianapolis Cultural Trail. The designated bike and pedestrian path encircles the downtown, linking the city’s five cultural districts: Mass Ave, Indiana Avenue, Fountain Square, The Canal and White River State Park, and the Wholesale District. A spur hooks into the Monon Trail leading to Broad Ripple Village, a funky, popular enclave. The Cultural Trail, which runs alongside main streets, is well-marked and paved. As you coast along you’ll pass pretty neighborhoods, attractions, entertainment venues and eye-catching outdoor art installations, making a spin along the trail a great way to take in the town.

Sample some brews and fine vino. Like many places around the nation, Indy’s craft brewing scene is, well, hopping! At Bier Brewery, for example, a father-son duo creates 100-plus different beers annually. The upscaleBlack Acre is known for its seasonal and specialty ales, and Books and Brews is a unique brewpub-bookstore. Investigate a few on your own, or sign on with Brewery Tours of Indianapolis. For $30 you’ll be taken to four different local craft breweries for tours, tastings and visits with brewmasters. Coolers on the bus keep any growlers you’ve purchased chilled… CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL STORY AT MIDWEST LIVING
