18 Feb Big Woods Busted Bar celebrates anniversary in rocking style
It’s crazy to say that this past weekend was my first adventure to Brown County, even though it’s a mere 1 hour drive from Indianapolis. If you’re a sucker for the outdoors and local businesses this place is for you.
Quaff On!/Big Woods Brewing is located in the heart of downtown Nashville in a massive, alluring cabin. Aside from the massive wooden pillars drawing you in, the metal medallion with their logo immediately grabs your focus. The street level entrance is home to the dining room for Big Woods Pizza. The second level (for those 21+) has even more seating and more importantly a full bar.
Being a city folk I didn’t think it was unreasonable to show up casually late to the party. Strolling in about an hour after the Facebook invite time, I was LUCKY to snag the last table in the back corner. The entire second floor bar area was full. That being said, I’m impressed with the way the servers and staff handled the high volume. I was able to get my beer and Italian food fix no problem.
Coming from Indianapolis I was not phased by the $5 cover charge as soon as you walked in. What I didn’t expect was a chance to actually make that money back and then some. Your $5 cover charge got you a raffle ticket and your chance to win various Big Woods prize buckets throughout the evening. Unfortunately my ticket was not a winner, but it was nice actually having an opportunity to win something.
Aside from this anniversary party, it didn’t seem like much else was happening downtown. It was a little strange going from the hustle and bustle of Indianapolis to this quiet, sleepy scene of Nashville. If you’re looking for a getaway weekend, Brown County is a must. It’s also doesn’t hurt that you’ll be able to try one of my new beloved craft beer gems.
