FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – What better way to quench away those Winter blues than with beer, bourbon, and bacon?

The appropriately-named festival featuring those three ingredients was held at the Botanical Conservatory Saturday evening.

There were 21 beer sampling stations with over 60 beers to try, two sampling stations featuring bourbons from Indiana and Kentucky, and five local restaurants served Ossian-brand bacon snacks to munch on.

Organizers say the inspiration for the festival was quick to grasp.

“We decided that we wanted to throw our hat into the ring and see what it was like to put one of these on so when looking for something different to bring to the table the first thing that came to mind was bacon. Everybody loves bacon,” said J.J. Fabini, who organized the festival.

All 1,000 tickets to the festival quickly disappeared.

The festival was so successful Fabini says he hopes to make this an annual event here in Fort Wayne.
