Getting a new beer on the market isn’t an easy thing to do for brewer. In an interview last week, Goodwood Brewing Co. president Phillip Dearner gave me a bit of color on the challenges involved.
One big question a brewer has to ask themselves is what kind of distributor they want. A large distributor will get its products into more locations, of course.
That sounds good, but it can be a double-edged sword — such distributors often have 40 to 50 craft beers with which your product will have to compete, he said. And a smaller distributor won’t be able to get your beer into as many places.
