Following in the footsteps of several smaller and lesser-known craft beer brands, Sierra Nevada recently announced the launch of a new rare beer club that will be referred to as The Alpha Hops Society.
With an annual fee of $250, members will receive access to special, experimented beers that will be exclusively available in bottles. Every 3 months, a new set of beers will be available for pick up at teh brewery’s Mills River, N.C. and Chico, CA locations–along with the Torpedo Room in Berkeley, CA. Only 300 memberships will be available to start.
Word has it that Sierra Nevada has been planning this membership club for at least 3 years with hopes of giving their brewers a way to fulfill their creativity while at the same time rewarding their most loyal customers.
The first set of beers are slated to be available in February of 2016 and will include an American Red Wild Ale, a blended Scotch Ale aged in absinthe and bourbon barrels, and a strong Belgian “Pentuppel” blended with chillies.
It will be interesting to see if other, larger craft breweries will follow suite with a similar rewards program.
