Vote For Indians Lager

As July rolls on,  it’s a perfect time to reflect on some of the things that makes summer great…such as baseball, ballpark food, and beer! MiLB’s “Food Fight” contest celebrates all of the above by letting fans vote on their favorite baseball cuisine. While most teams are sending some of their bestselling food items up to bat, the Indians have decided to throw a change up and are featuring their hugely popular Sun King Indians Lager in this year’s competition.

A seasonal lager from Sun King Brewery, Indians Lager gets its balanced, crisp malt flavor from German noble hops that are added during the Vienna style brewing process. Having a 5.4% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 24 IBUs (International Bitterness Unit – scored from 0-100), Indians Lager can be found on tap or in Sun Kings unique cans throughout Victory Field and has become a ballpark staple for Tribe fans.

“Sun King makes some of my favorite beer, and once I heard that they were coming out with Indians Lager I had to go out and try some. Once I did, I realized it’s a great beer to have during the summer time, especially when you’re at an Indians game. It’s a lot better than having something from St. Louis when you can have a great drink right from your hometown,” says Bill Riggs, an Indianapolis native. The fact that it’s not only the official beer of the Indians, but also made by a local brewery located a few blocks from Victory Field gives fans even more reason to love the adult beverage.

Tyler Bayly, a student at Butler University, also loves the idea of the Indians partnering with local businesses to give fans the opportunity to experience top of the line concession items. “It’s really cool that they have great local beer at the ballpark. I always recommend it to people who are looking for something refreshing,” Bayly commented.

Tribe fans can help the Indians Lager win MiLB’s “Food Fight” competition by going to IndyIndians.com and clicking to Food Fight banner to vote for their favorite brew. To ensure an Indians victory, fans can also click on the “new matchup” button at the bottom of the page until Indians Lager becomes a choice. MiLB is allowing fans to vote until Thursday, July 10 when they will announce a 2014 Food Fight Champion.
