10 Nov Tin Man Brewing to Introduce New Seasonals to the Marketplace with Slick New Can Designs
Tin Man Brewing Co. has been making beer down in Evansville, IN since 2012 with the mission of making delicious and diverse beers in a sustainable, environmentally friendly manner. They currently produce five year-round house beers but, through some encouragement of those in the community, fans of the brewery will soon begin to see some familiar one-offs reintroduced in 2015 to the masses as Tin Man’s new seasonals, featuring some slick new can designs.
Starting with this winter, beer drinkers will be able to find on their store shelves Csar, a Russian Imperial Stout that is currently the brewery’s second-highest rated beer on BeerAdvocate.com.
“When we think about seasonals and the one-off beers we do, we’re usually thinking about what styles would people really enjoy at that particular time in the year,” Tin Man’s President, Nick Davidson tells me. “We released Csar, our Russian Imperial Stout, last winter because it’s such a rich, warming beer and is really appropriate for the cold winter months.”
The two seasonals to follow are Tin Man’s Positronic (Belgian-style Blond Ale) and Rosenweiss (Kristallweizen). Both lighter beers with more floral and citrus notes, they will be welcomed additions to the warmer, more humid spring and summer months that Indiana endures (I know – it’s hard to think about right now, Hoosiers, but we’ll get there someday. I promise).
A one-off beer that gained popularity so fast, Damascene (Apricot Sour), is going straight to year-round production.
“Damascene, is the exception,” says Davidson. “It’s been so popular that we’re going start releasing that year round. As soon as we get the cans delivered for Damascene you’ll start to see it show up on store shelves and it should be back in draft very soon.”
He adds, “Damascene Apricot Sour is a very drinkable, refreshing sour fit for the humid heat of an Evansville summer.” (I’m really trying, everyone. Summer will be back soon.)
For the new can designs, Tin Man hired some local help to expand off the hard-lined, mechanical design their cans display.
“It would get boring if we did the same exact design for each can, so we looked at these seasonal beers as an opportunity to try something different,” Davidson explains.
“Matt Wagner, our designer, had this great concept of doing a can design that looked like a robot got a tattoo. The design is black and clear so the aluminum of the can is visible. We had a local tattoo artist, Richard Holt, who owns Bazooka Tooth Tattoos here in Evansville do the tattoo artwork.”
The result is a design that will be absolutely striking when standing out among the craft beers in your stores, while being consistent enough amongst each other that, when you see them, you’ll know immediately, “That’s a Tin Man beer.”
Look for these five beers to hit shelves in your town throughout 2015.
