02 Jan St. John Microbrewery Raises $1,500 for NWI Food Bank
ST. JOHN | As a brewery, you would expect their first order of business would be to brew beer, right? Not St. John’s new microbrewery, St. John Malt Brothers, Inc. Their first order of business was to give back to the community before even opening their doors.
“The brewery won’t officially open until the end of January but we saw an opportunity to give back to the community we have called home and now work in,” said Jim Estry, president of SJMB, who along with business partners and friends Dan Cox, vice president of SJMB, and Dave Witt, brewer, founded SJMB last year. “So we sponsored an event at our nearly-finished brewery to raise funds for those in need around the Region this holiday season,” Estry added.
SJMB donated $1,500 to the Northwest Indiana Food Bank just in time for the holidays. The funds were raised at a preview of the brewery for friends and family held on Saturday, December 13, 2014.
