New Oberpfalz Brewing Starts Bottling Its Craft Beer

GRIFFITH | A Bavarian-inspired craft brewery in Griffith has started bottling beer, a step up from being a brewpub that only serves its beer on the premises.

New Oberpfalz Brewing opened a German beer hall at 121 E. Main St. earlier this year. The brewery just started bottling its Tremble Baltic Porter, which is available in 22-ounce bombers at the taproom and at Party Liquors, 404 N. Broad St. 

“It’s a great big malty, smokey, dark, rich Baltic Porter,” owner and brewer Dan Lehnerer said. “It’s a true lager Baltic Porter, so lager yeast went into this. It took a month to make it. It’s rich and creamy, a delicious beer.”

The craft brewery brewed about 100 cases, or 1,200 bottles of the beer. New Oberpfalz next plans to bottle its Double India Pale Ale, then its Helles Lager, then its Altbier, and finally its Robust Porter.
