07 Jul The Koelschip Named Top 100 Beer Bar In U.S.
July 6, 2016 (Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Koelschip, a downtown Indianapolis beer, wine, and coffee bar, has been named one of the Top 100 Beer Bars in the United States by DRAFT magazine, the preeminent guide to the world of beer. They are the only nonchain bar in Indianapolis, and one of only two in Indiana, named to the list.
DRAFT magazine’s annual hunt for the best beer bars in America features bars from all over the country, but this is the first year an Indianapolis bar made the list. Since opening their doors in late January 2016, the Fall Creek neighborhood bar has built a following based on the unique blend of beer and cider offerings, an accompanying wine list, and Dark Matter coffee.
Owners Jake Koeneman, Josh Hambright and Chris Bly have stood by their mission to serve beers of distinction from around the world alongside the beer they brew at Central State Brewing. The Koelschip’s long bar, lack of televisions and distinct decor encourage conversation, community, and continued cultivation of Indiana’s burgeoning beer scene.
“We are proud to be a part of this list alongside many of the bars we’ve looked to for inspiration while building The Koelschip,” says Koeneman. “In just five months, we have been able showcase the best beers we can access, making us a mustvisit for beer lovers and a great neighborhood gathering spot.”
The Koelschip is located at 2505 N Delaware St. and is open Monday-Saturday 12p-9p and Sunday 12p-8p(ish). For more information and an uptodate draft list, visit http://www.thekoelschip.com/.
