09 Aug Indiana City Brewing Company Expands With New Canning Line
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[INDIANAPOLIS , IN, Aug. 8, 2019] – Here they grow again! In response to high demand for their beer, Indiana City Brewing Company acquired its own canning line to increase beer production, package more of their small-batch beers in cans, and allow for better quality control. The popular Indianapolis-based brewery canned the latest in their highly acclaimed Craft Brew Doodle Crew DDH Hazy IPA Series on their very own new canning line this week.
Indiana City founder, Ray Kamstra, says “Installing our own canning line makes us more nimble and able to provide even more of what our fans can’t get enough of. This growth step allows us to put more of our beers in cans that were previously only available on draft and it helps us brew more beer right away through greater efficiency.”
The new canning line is part of Indiana City’s ongoing commitment to freshness and quality. Cans are far superior to bottles and are now much more widely used by breweries for their ability to keep beer fresher for longer while also being more portable and better for the environment. With the new canning line, Indiana City fans will now see even more fresh-off-the-line beer releases, often available at their taproom within 24 hours of coming off the line. As one of Indy’s only truly independent self-distributing breweries, Indiana City’s freshly canned beer is available on store shelves within only a few days of packaging–a benefit of hand-delivering beer rather than using a third party wholesaler.
Established in 2013, Indiana City began canning in 2015 by working with mobile canning companies who temporarily set up their canning equipment on-site and package on demand for many smaller breweries. Indiana City has continued to grow year after year, building on their successes through being a force in the evolution of the local craft beer scene. Keeping to their mission of creating great experiences while crafting the highest quality beer for Indianapolis, the brewery launched three highly rated canned beer series – Craft Brew Doodle Crew DDH IPA Series, Yo! Hazy Pale Ale Series, and Super Dry, Brut-style IPA Series, all available at local craft-focused liquor stores, bars, and restaurants.
Combining great label art with great beer has always been the vision of Indiana City. Aaron Scamihorn of RONLEWHORN Industries has been the label artist since the brewery opened and is the founder of the Craft Brew Doodle Crew–a group of local artists that has gathered each month in the Indiana City taproom since 2016 to create musical chairs style collaborative art. That artwork can be seen in the taproom and on beer labels of a series of double dry hopped hazy IPAs brewed with newer, popular and experimental hop varieties. Most recently, Indiana City has been partnering with local artists on a taproom-exclusive series known as the Indy Artist Series that features solo works of art by individual artists of the Craft Brew Doodle Crew paired with artful, experiential styles of beer to fit the season.
About Indiana City Brewing Co. In the summer of 2013, Indiana City Brewing Co. began brewing high–quality, handcrafted ales from the pre-prohibition era Bottling House on Indianapolis’ near Eastside at 24 Shelby Street. Since then, they have released over a hundred unique beers, launched a robust barrel-aging program and won statewide brewing awards. Their brewery taproom is a place for the craft beer community to come together and local artists to display their work, perform and collaborate. Indiana City beer can only be found locally around greater Indianapolis. Indiana City takes great pride in Indianapolis, working hard to add to the craft brewing scene found there.
