Hunter’s Brewing In Chesterton Celebrates Five Years

Hunter’s Brewing In Chesterton Celebrates Five Years

by Mark E. Lasbury for Indiana On Tap

Justin Reistetter and Amy Gentry moved to Chesterton with the idea of opening a brewery. They didn’t know what shape it might take, but the result has been stellar. Hunter’s Brewing (named for their dog who passed away), has been a staple of northern Indiana craft brewing and are the only vegan brewpub in the state.

On Saturday, February 24th, Justin and Amy will be throwing a party to celebrate their fifth anniversary (see the Facebook post). They have a heck of a tap list prepared, with ten of their own beers and eight guest brews. The Hunter’s beers will include new beers and some of the most popular from the last year or so, like barrel-aged Persuasion, Heavy Glow, while one of the new beers is a shitake mushroom brown ale.

The guest taps are always good at Hunter’s, maybe the best in the state for the number. The planned beers include Vlad the Imp Aler from cascade Brewing in Portland, the 2018 Hopslam from Bells, and even the Uncle Jacob’s Stout from Avery Brewing. Uncle Jacob’s has some of the highest Untappd scores I have ever seen for a beer that has been rated thousands of times.

Their will be a special anniversary menu will be on featuring (amongst other things) a vegan Korean-style mushroom bulgogi street taco (a vegan version of highly spiced thin strips of grilled beef), There will also be music from 4-7 pm, so head on over, up, down or whatever to Hunter’s and congratulate Amy and Justin for a job well done and toast to a long life for their brewery.
