13 Jun Hop Cat – Broad Ripple To OPen with Hoosier Tap Takeover of 130 Indiana Craft Beers
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., June 12, 2014 – An unprecedented 130-tap Hoosier Tap Takeover, featuring exclusively Indiana-made craft beers will be among the highlights at the Aug. 16 grand opening of Indiana’s largest beer bar, HopCat – Broad Ripple.
In addition, the first 200 customers in line at the 11 a.m. opening of HopCat – Broad Ripple, 6280 N. College Ave., will receive a card good for one free order of HopCat’s famously addictive Crack Fries every week for a year. Everyone attending the grand opening will get a free order of Crack Fries.
The announcements were made at a ceremonial Hops planting marking the ramp-up of hiring and the next phase of construction at the restaurant and bar, located on the ground floor of the Broad Ripple garage, a mixed-use development in the heart of the historic arts and entertainment district.
HopCat’s beer team already is working with Indiana brewers to showcase some of their latest, most innovative and most-loved beers at this special one-day event.
“HopCat has already shown us how serious they are about craft beer and supporting the Indiana brewing community,” said Clay Robinson, co-founder of Sun King Brewing Co. and president of the Brewers of Indiana Guild. “As part of the event we plan to offer more than 30 varieties of Sun King’s Fresh Local Beer – the largest variety we’ve ever had on tap at a single event.”
HopCat Founder Mark Sellers said the Hoosier tap takeover event will provide patrons with a chance to experience the incredible variety, artistry and creativity within Indiana’s craft brewing community.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown by Indianapolis and the Broad Ripple community and incredibly impressed with the work of Sun King and the other Indiana brewers we’ll be showcasing,” said Mark Sellers. “This event, which we believe will offer the largest selection of Indiana drafts ever available at one time outside of a beer festival, will be a fun way to introduce ourselves to the community.”
HopCat – Broad Ripple will be the third location for the award-winning HopCat, which was named the No. 3 Beer Bar on Planet Earth by Beer Advocate. The draft system will be the largest in the state. Many of its taps will be dedicated to showcasing Indiana craft beer following the opening along with craft beers from around the country and the world.
Hiring for more than 100 jobs at HopCat is under way . Resumes may be submitted to indy.jobs.@hopcat.com. . A hiring center will open adjacent to HopCat and Orange Leaf Yogurt on June 30 and remain open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday until hiring is completed.
