Fishers on Tap: Providing exposure to new beers and Breweries

Saturday evening’s Fishers On Tap charity event was an exceptional showcase on the superb state of Indiana’s craft brewing industry. Featuring a diverse sampling of creative brews representing over a quarter of Indiana’s craft breweries, the festive event was a well-attended success. Thank you to Indiana On Tap for the opportunity to attend the event and to the Fishers Rotary Club, the Town of Fishers and the Nickel Plate Amphitheater, the event sponsors, the volunteers, and the participants for organizing and hosting this first-class experience. With fantastic weather, wonderful music, a beautiful setting, and great tasting beers, I am already looking forward to the next edition of this event!
 
Fishers On Tap did a fabulous job of exhibiting the vast variety, creativity, dedication, and remarkable talent of Indiana’s brewers. I can honestly say that I did not encounter any bad representations of Hoosier brew at the event… and it was not from shyness in sampling. I was able to try the products from several craft houses I had previously not been exposed, among them The New Albanian Brewing Company, Outliers Brewery, Scarlet Lane Brewing Company, and Tax Man Brewing Company. Additionally, with the variety in styles and creative ingredients, I was able to identify several new favorites and expanded my palate with some new, adventuresome creations. In fact, the list of my top ten tastings features several of the more bold beers from which I had previously shied away. I have traditionally been somewhat leery of the porter and stout scene given their punch and overt relative thickness. I am proud to say that three of my top ten are robust, flavorful representatives of this genre and two more were Kolsch-style brews, a refreshing German-styling that I had never experienced. My top ten favorite beers that I tried were:

·         Thr3e Wise Men Rocky Ripple Pale Ale
·         Sun King Brewing Company Sunlight Cream Ale
·         Sun King Brewing Company Wee Mac Scottish Ale
 
I cannot wait to fill my Father’s Day present, a stainless steel insulated growler with any of these fine beers while I anxiously await the next Fishers On Tap.
