(Event)  ’Big Brew’ by Great Fermentations — A celebration of National Homebrew day

Organized by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), AHA Big Brew celebrates National Homebrew Day, honored on the first Saturday of May each year. This event brings together thousands of homebrewers from around the world, all brewing the same beers simultaneously. More than 7,000 homebrewers from North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and Australia are expected to participate this year. So, come join Great Fermentations at either our Indianapolis or Avon locations, brew a batch a beer with fellow homebrewers from around the world, and help us celebrate this great hobby.

Not that you need much more enticement for brewing beer outside on a great day with fellow hobbyists, but just because, we’re giving all brewing participants 50% off ingredients that day for a five gallon batch. You can brew anything you want, but if you can’t make up your mind, try the official Big Brew recipe for this year: Regal Pale Ale (Extract Recipe // All-Grain Recipe). If you want to brew with us this year, please make sure to register (using one of the links below) for the store location you plan on being at (either Indianapolis or Avon).

In addition to the day of brewing, we’ve also got some other great events planned for Big Brew day that we’ll be offering for FREE! Yep, you heard right. Plus you don’t even have to be brewing to attend. They’re available for anyone, but please make sure to register in advance because space is limited. Here are some of the exciting events we’ll have going on:

• Off-Flavor Seminar: We’ll cover three of the most common off flavors in beer to help you diagnose your batch.
• Ask-a-Judge: You’ll get a consultation with a BJCP certified judge to help determine if your brew is competition worthy, and how it should be categorized.
• Coffee and Beer with Bee Roasters (Indianapolis location only): Join BJCP judge Sandy Cockerham and learn how to properly pick a coffee to use in your next batch!
• Homebrew Garage Sale: Bring your old equipment with you and sell it to your fellow homebrewers. No registration required!
