Barker’s Brew, a new non-alcoholic ‘beer’ for dogs, comes in either chicken or beer flavours packaged in an attractively designed beer bottle, similar to that of a craft beer brew, and adding to the illusion.

Targeting pampered pooches and their beer loving owners, the brew is designed to served as a drink or over dry dog food at costs £2.99.

The non-carbonated beverage is said to be high in Vitamin E, to give your pup healthy skin, fat free and natural.

It is not the first time that the drinks industry has turned their attention to the canine consumer with demand for pet-friendly beverages appearing to grown.

In 2012 a UK pub introduced launched a non-alcoholic, beef-flavoured beer for its customers’ furry friends made from malt and meat extract, while Bowser Beer, a non-alcoholic, non-carbonated beer for dogs made from beef or chicken broth with malt barley, has been marketed by a company in Phoenix, Arizona.

In January 2013 Daniel Keeton, of Oregon’s Boneyard Brewery, released Dawg Grog – a beer aimed specifically at man’s best friend after his dog Lola developed a taste for beer.

The non-alcoholic beer is made from organic vegetable broth, spent grain, water and glucosamine powder containing ginger, cinnamon, flax seed and honey.

And cats have not been left out from the burgeoning pet drinks scene, with a Japanese pet food and supplement maker B&H Lives launching a wine for cats called Nyan Nyan Nouveau (“Meow Nouveau”) in October last year.

Made with the juice of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, Nyan Nyan Nouveaur is non-alcoholic and contains traces of catnip and vitamin C.
