20 Sep 3 Floyds to Reopen Their Brewpub in Munster?
by Mark E. Lasbury for Indiana On Tap
Two separate sources, Crain’s Chicago Business and the NWI Times, have published articles (click the previous links for articles) in the last couple of days concerning the possible reopening of the 3 Floyds Brewing brewpub at their production brewery and distillery location in Munster.
Closed in May 2020 as one of the initial victims of the Covid pandemic, the brewpub was announced to be permanently closed in December of that same year, but that may not be the case. The Oct. 10 agenda of the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning in Munster includes an application from Three Floyds for an expansion project at the original site of the brewpub, perhaps with construction already started and a tentative opening in May, 2024 according to Crain’s.
Expansion could be a great addition to the brewpub that was originally opened in 2005, as long as the intimate atmosphere is maintained. We all remember the lines that would form before opening at the brewpub each day. Of course the beer was great, but the food won awards for years, including having nominations for James Beard Awards.
Indiana On Tap has questions out to co-owner Nick Floyd, and we will update the story as more information is gathered.
