In addition, we will also be offering $1 off Warring Factions (previously named Identity Crisis) bronze medal winner at the 2017 Indiana Brewers Cup.
Four Day Ray Brewing received a bronze medal at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition’s 98 beer-style categories were announced October 7 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
“We knew going into brewing Hot Pink it was an experimental beer. Based on the Brewers Association style guidelines uniqueness is the primary consideration when evaluating this category. Coffee, spice, fruit, chocolate, field, smoked, wood-aged or other beers that fall within another category are not defined as experimental. Beers that are brewed with the combination of two or more characteristics create a true experimental beer. Hot Pink had not only two but three of these flavor profiles strawberry for fruit, rhubarb for field, and jalapeno for spice. We are very proud of our team here at Four Day Ray and our honored to bring home a bronze medal for Indiana.” said Mitch Ackerman, Head of Brewery Operations at Four Day Ray Brewing.
Four Day Ray Brewing was recognized in the Experimental beer-style category for its Hot Pink, a beer that smells of fresh strawberries with a slight tartness from the rhubarb. The finish brings the heat from the jalapeno. The combination of flavors create a beer that glows hot pink providing a refreshing, unique beer that’s truly innovative.
The 2017 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 276 expert judges from 7,923 entries, plus 118 Pro-Am entries, received from 2,217 U.S. breweries.
“Each year the Great American Beer Festival showcases the best that American brewers have to offer,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager, Great American Beer Festival. “With a record 8,000 + entries, this year’s competition was the most competitive to date. Congratulations to all the winners who truly demonstrated why the U.S. is the world’s best and most diverse brewing nation.”
