In Gary, 18th Street Brewery has been receiving rave reviews as one of the best newcomers to the marketplace since opening last year, even working on a recent collaboration beer with renowned Denmark-based Mikkeller.
Owner Drew Fox now plans to double production by year’s end to 1,000 barrels annually, which will allow him to begin distributing cans to the Indianapolis market through an agreement with Starlight Distributors.
The website Rate Beer named 18th Street the best new brewer in the state last year, according to a news release.
“Even before we opened our doors, we’ve had nothing but incredible support from so many people,” Fox said in a prepared statement. “Since we opened last winter, that support has been overwhelming. We really can’t thank people enough for that. We’re ecstatic.”
