Last night I had the opportunity to visit The Millhouse Restaurant in Jasper, IN–home of Basket Case Brewing Company.   Basket Case is a nanobrewery that blends their love of beer and music, as illustrated in many of their beer names.  I tried their beer sampler, which consisted of the 4 beers they had on tap:  Hoppy by Nature, Revolution Ale, Maneater and Busta Nut Brown.  While I prefer not to be too critical in these musings, I personally was not impressed with their Hoppy by Nature or Revolution Ale.  The Hoppy by Nature just wasn’t hoppy enough for me
for as an IPA.  The Revolution Ale tasted flat–almost as if it was missing the carbonation.   The Maneater, however, was excellent.  It was one of the better blonde ales I’ve had in recent memory.  For me, however, the Busta Nut Brown Ale was the star of the show.  I’ve never been a big fan of brown ales, but found
myself thirsting for more.  This beer is on its way to becoming the flagship of their brand.

The Millhouse food was great and the service was excellent. If you ever find yourself passing through or near Jasper, IN–which is in the southwest part of the state, swing by The Millhouse and make sure you try the Busta Nut Brown…you won’t be disappointed.
