The good news continues for craft beer fans in Northwest Indiana. 18th Street Brewery has announced that on Saturday, February 6th it will open the doors to it’s new Hammond, IN brewpub, making it the first craft brewery in the Region to open a second brewpub, says NWITimes’ Joseph S. Pete.

The brewery, named the best newcomer in Indiana by RateBeer in 2013, will move its production facility to the downtown Hammond brewpub, allowing 18th Street to expand its production and distribution throughout the Region and the state.

A cash-only, 21+ grand opening celebration will run from noon to midnight on Saturday.

18th Streer owner Drew Fox told the Times, “It’s going to be a big day to actually have another microbrewery in the city of Hammond… With 32,000 square feet, we’ve got no limitations as we take our time with growth.”

Fans of the Miller Beach pub will still be able to swing by for their favorite beers and delicious food (the Sunday brunch is a personal favorite of mine), though Fox says they might move a few store fronts down if a fair rent can’t be secured.

“Our identity is the Miller Beach pub. That’s how we got started. We appreciated the support we’ve always gotten in the Miller neighborhood,” Fox added.

The Hammond brewpub at 5417 Oakley Avenue will be open noon-10:00 PM Monday – Thursday, noon – midnight Friday and Saturday, and noon – 8:00 PM on Sundays.

18th Street continues to shine as one of the brightest breweries not just in Indiana but in the country. With recent collaborations between them, Three Floyds, Mikkeller, and Arizona Wilderness to name a few, the message will continue to spread the Fox and his Gary crew are to be counted amongst craft brewing’s best.
