MICHIGAN CITY — Shoreline Brewery hosted its ninth annual Red, White and Brews Fest on Sunday, with 10 breweries from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan participating.
Offering brews this year were Mad Anthony Brewing, Crown Brewing, One Trick Pony, People’s Brewing, Figure Eight, Burn ‘Em Brewing, Greenbush Brewing, 18th Street Brewery, Backwoods Brewery and Shoreline Brewery.
Providing live entertainment, three bands performed during the 10-hour event – the Chester Brown Band, Steepwater Band and Byrdland, a James Brown tribute band.
The Red, White and Brews Fest is an annual festival hosted by Shoreline Brewery in support of the camaraderie that exists between all of the breweries, said Jason Russell, a brewer with Shoreline.
All of the proceeds from this year’s event, including the money earned by the individual breweries, will be donated toward medical bills of Chris Gerard, a brewer with Bare Hands Brewery based out of Granger, Indiana.
Gerard recently had an accident in his brewery, during which he fractured his skull.
“The entire beer community is all about helping each other out when you can,” said Chris Reisetter of Greenbush Brewing. “We’re all brothers and sisters.”
