Beer & Beaches: You Literally Need Nothing Else In Life

Now that the weather is finally warming up and summer is just around the corner, we at Indiana on Tap are starting to think about vacations. We like to try new beer everywhere we go, but nothing beats a good midwest brew. Most people don’t really think “beach getaway” when they think midwest, but we know better. With the Indiana Dunes and the shoreline of Lake Michigan just hours away from Indianapolis, why not take a weekend getaway and soak up the sun?

From Chicago to Chesterton to Saugatuck, the Lake Michigan shoreline boasts some great breweries. There’s nothing better than a warm day at the beach with a cold beer in your hand, so to help you realize that dream I’ve put together an interactive map to help you locate the watering holes that will help you get your local beer fix while you’re vacationing. Whether you prefer a laid-back barroom vibe or an upscale experience to round out your vacation feeling, the shores of Lake Michigan have the brewery for you.

I’ve selected 5-6 breweries in each state, all within an easy half a day drive from Indianapolis. Each brewery selected for this map 1.) brews their own beer 2.) offers growler/bullet fills and/or beer carryout and 3.) is within 10 miles of the glorious beach. This is not a comprehensive list of beachfront breweries, but hopefully there are plenty to get everyone started on summer adventures.
