Goshen’s newest brewpub has its own beers on tap

Just in time for First Friday, Back Alley Brewery finally has its own beer on tap.

Larry Libey’s business in the back of 211 1/2 S. Main St., Goshen, has nine taps. He opened in September with four taps, but didn’t have beer he brewed on tap until Wednesday, Oct. 30.

He started working on the brewery

I popped in to check out the place for the first time. And a friend and I got a taste of the black lager and the Street Light Stout. They were both decent.

Libey started work on the brewery in September 2011. The brewery was delayed for several years due to a variety of state processes, but is finally open. There are a handful of tables, eight television screens and a bar.

Libey said four beers will be on tap for First Friday Nov. 1. And the menu of baked items is ready any day of the week. On Saturdays and Sundays, hot dogs and steamed buns are a dollar each from noon to close.

I’m anxious to see what the place is like on a Sunday evening. It’ll likely be the only place to get carry-out beer in Goshen when Libey’s growlers get a label and are available in a few months, he said.

It’s a comfortable little spot and will be interesting to see how it develops. Homebrewing supplies are also for sale.
