Press Release

Bloomington, IN—The Bloomington Brewing Co. releases a special new beer on 6/19/14 with a portion of each sale going to support the fight the preserve Indiana State Forest land for future generations.

This “Session” IPA, so-called due to the lighter alcohol content and more subdued bitterness than a typical IPA, was designed to be a summertime beer and will be available into the late summer or as supplies last.  This brew is the first pilot batch of what the brewers expect will be a very popular beer and a successful partnership with the Indiana Forest Alliance (IFA).  The brewery is donating 10% of all sales of the beer to the IFA.  Early on, the beer will be only available at the Brewpub at Lennie’s and to other Bloomington based draft customers of the brewery and kegs will be available to the public at Big Red Liquors. The public is encouraged to ask for Backcountry Session IPA at their favorite local establishments that serve draft beer.  After brewing pilot batches this summer, the brewery will begin producing Backcountry again next May and plans to offer the beer for sale in cans, which will be a first for the company.

Indiana’s State Forest Back Country Areas make up less than 5% of our State Forests, and have recently been opened to commercial logging, despite public opposition. The Indiana Forest Alliance is dedicated to protecting Indiana’s public forests to the benefit of biodiversity within deep forest habitat and wilderness recreation. 10% of the brewery’s sales of Backcountry Session India Pale Ale will help support IFA’s continued efforts to preserve our Indiana State Forests for future generations. To learn more, visit us at www.indianaforestalliance.org
