16 Apr A Charity Golf Tournament and a Charity Beer – Working to Help Indiana Service Workers

We’ve talked before about the Indy Independent Relief Fund (IIRF), the non-profit group set up to help Indiana craft beer and all service workers that have been hit so hard by the Covid lockdowns. Now they have new fundraiser that is a partnership with the Young Professionals of Central Indiana (YPCI).
On May 7 at Eagle Creek Golf Club on west 56th Street will host their annual charity golf outing, the YPCI Classic. The proceeds of this golf tournament in 2021 will all go to IIRF activities, including the food bank and delivery service that aids service workers in immediate need. The day will include a mimosa breakfast with a hot DJ for all participants, at which time you can buy perks for your round and raffle tickets for later in the day. The golf tournament will get underway via a shotgun start, and a boxed lunch will be served to all on the course. After all rounds have been completed there will be a dinner and raffle in the clubhouse. That’s a heck of a day, and it’s all for a good cause.
Want more for your money? There’s unlimited beer included with your ticket. As part of that, the tournament is the only place you can get the new IIRF charity beer, the 19th Hole Lager from Hoosier Brewing in Greenwood. Sean Webster of Hoosier Brewing and the founder of IIRF calls this “the crispiest boi out there.” The German noble hop, Magnum Hallertau, is the backbone of this beer, along with pilsner and pale malts; it clocks in at 4.25% ABV and 10 IBU. 19th Hole is the eighth beer in the IIRF series (plus a bourbon and a vodka), and the proceeds of the beer sales and the tournament go to further the mission of IIRF, “To Serve Those Who Serve Us.” Cody Hunt of YPCI told me, “2021 marks our 10th year having the YPCI Golf Outing and every year we donate all proceeds that we raise to different charities and organizations located in the Indianapolis area.”
He added, “Knowing the impact that Covid had on the service industry and the fact that Young Professionals in this city love to be out socializing in bars/restaurants, choosing IIRF was a no brainer for us to help raise money for” and, “I used to work in the service industry up until about 3 years ago and I know how hard it is to make a living in that industry without the effects of Covid. A great day for a great cause which also increases awareness of a great young professionals organization, and gives you your only chance for a great, rare beer. About Indy Independent Relief Fund: The Indy Independent Relief Fund was registered as a nonprofit organization on March 19, 2020. Dedicated to “Serve Those Who Serve Us”, the IIRF’s immediate goal is to aid in providing food and supplies to those displaced by COVID-19. The goal of the fund is to continually generate funds, through the production and sale of charity beers and events, which will then be donated to any service industry worker in need due to health, financial, or personal reasons.
