Broad Ripple Brewpub Celebrates 25th Anniversary In Style

I’m honored I had the chance to attend a historic event for the oldest brewpub in Indiana. This year Broad Ripple Brewpub turned 25. This monument has held its own for decades, now continuously producing well-made brews in the ever growing market. Us Indy residents are lucky to have access to such an establishment.

I arrived thirsty and with an empty belly. I’m a sucker for bar food and the classic cheeseburger made my heart sing. This paired perfectly with the Celebration Ale brewed for this special event. The Celebration Ale was an English Barleywine that balanced caramel malt with a dark fruity tart finish. This was also available bottled in bombers, the brewpub’s first ever, which marks yet another historical event.

I liked that they had traditional dining service as well as the party outside. I was able to sit down and enjoy my burger (as opposed to other beer events that are standing only and half my food ends up on the ground) before partaking in the festivities in the outdoor tent. The beer cheese formulated with some of their house ales is also a must. Outside they had a tent set up with a live band and guest tap station. They even set up kids crafting and face painting table so you could bring the youngins. At 6PM they released 25 Chinese Lanterns to celebrate the 25th anniversary. My goofball friends successfully launched one into a tree, but the other than that they looked beautiful!

Overall I think Broad Ripple Brewpub speaks for itself with the variety of brews and fantastic pub food. They were able to set the stage for the Indiana craft beer scene. I made it a point to say thank you to all of the Brewpub servers that made the business everything that it is today. This is a place that should be on every Indiana Beer Geek’s Bucket list.
