Another week and another Indiana brewery releases another new beer that you must try. The Talking Pints Guys can guide you there.

Dave: Indiana breweries are really doubling down in terms of creativity and production. More breweries open in our great state each day and each brewer is constantly bending their creativity to make something new and delicious for a beer audience thirsty for something new.

Darrick: This year, for the first time in decades, the Indiana State Fair will feature Indiana Breweries. Having Indiana made craft beer just makes sense; Indiana is making a great name for Hoosiers in the beer community as more and more breweries crop up with high quality, locally made craft beer.

Dave: Honestly, we have an exhausting task here at Talking Pints HQ. I don’t think we’ll ever catch up with the pace of new craft beer worthy of writing about.

Darrick: But we’ll keep at it and keep trying. We know you’re counting on us.

Dave: Darrick has been lending a hand at New Corner Brewing, Muncie’s own production brewery. In exchange for some heavy lifting, keg washing, and some creative work, we get the inside scoop on beer recipes in the conceptual stages.

Darrick: This inside information about beer-yet-to-be is great, but I still have to impatiently wait, like a kid before Christmas, to see the finished beer.

Dave: The good news for everyone who loves locally made delicious craft beer, including Darrick, is the newest release is finally available.

Darrick: New Corner Double IPA is here, it is at all of the great local beer pubs and downtown restaurants, as well as at New Corner Brewing of course.

Beer: Double IPA
Available at: Heorot, Fickle Peach, Savages Ale House, Barn Brasserie, New Corner Brewing Co.
Brewery: New Corner Brewing, 1900 W. Mount Pleasant Blvd., Suite G, Muncie.
Style: Double IPA
ABV: 8.7 percent

Dave: Downtown Muncie has had a love affair with bold, hoppy beers. Ask any publican or beer distributor and they will tell you that Muncie’s downtown proper moves the IPAs in surprising quantity.

Darrick:
And Muncie goes out to share craft beer. While Muncie has some very well stocked package stores, craft beer is enjoyed in Muncie in community, the way it should be. Bold IPAs have few rivals that can stand up to the hop and malt one-two punch, unless you’re talking double IPAs.

Dave: Double IPAs are what you might expect from the name; an IPA but more of everything. More malt and more hops combined with cunning and skill to deliver a more memorable dance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness.

Darrick: To answer Muncie’s call for hops, hops, and more hops, New Corner Brewing Company developed its Double IPA.

Dave: Double IPA pours a deep copper color in the glass with tight, white foam on top. The nose is a bouquet of citrus, pine, and tropical fruit filled hop character with some sweet caramel malt in the balance.

Darrick: On the palate, Double IPA is a treat. Hop bitterness is full, assertive but not edgy. The malt sweetness fills in the center with grain and caramelized flavors but finishes on the drier side.

Dave: After the malt sweetness fades, the hop flavor comes back with some lemon and pineapple character from a dose of Warrior hops.

Darrick: New Corner Double IPA is another great brew from Muncie’s local production brewery. Stop by the brewery or by one of the great places serving New Corner on tap, and be sure to bring a friend. There will be plenty in your pint to talk about.
