A “discovery” in a remote corner of Germany is turning the mostly masculine world of craft beer on its head.

Her name is Sister Doris Engelhard, and for the past 45 of her 65 years the Franciscan nun has dedicated her life both to God and to very exclusive and coveted craft beers.  She’s long had a local following for her products, which can’t be found outside Germany’s eastern Bavaria, site of the 12th century Mallersdorf Abbey where she brews her magic.

Thanks to several recent stories in the U.S. press, her fame has spread beyond Germany’s borders.

What has made Sister Doris, who took over the brewery in 1975, the object of international media attention is not only the fact that she’s one of a small number of acknowledged female brewmasters in Bavaria, considered ‘the beating heart of Europe’s beer country,’ but that she’s the last nun brewmaster in Europe.  CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL STORY AT FORBES.COM
