Wooden Bear Brewing Co. pulled out all the stops for its grand opening celebration on Oct. 18 by hosting a street festival out in front of the brewery, referred to many simply as “WoodFest.” The festival featured food vendors and wood craftsmen doing demonstrations and selling a variety of wood carvings, collectibles, kitchenware and Christmas decor.  Inside the brewery, crowds gathered to sip the latest releases of Wooden Bear beers.

The Greenfield brewery, at 21 W. North St., is in the city’s historical downtown district. The 5,900-square-foot space was built to accommodate the city’s first opera house in 1898. It later served as various auto repair shops and a furniture warehouse before being converted into the rustic, spacious taproom and brew house it is today.

Wooden Bear has already built a strong local following for its five different house beers –Growl at the Moon, Cougar Town Brown, Hoppy Bear IPA, Go Irish! and Big Paw Porter. The brewery also offers in-house seasonal and specialty beers as well as a wide variety of rotating guest taps.
