Black as night and velvety smooth… We heard your cries and we’re bringing back an old favorite -Upland Schwarz! Drinkers often perceive dark colored beers to be inherently “heavier” than their paler counterparts. Upland Schwarzbier proves that a beer can be black in color but as crisp, clean, and approachable as any German inspired lager. 

This is one black cat you’ll want to cross paths with.

Upland Brewing Co announced today that Schwarz will be released on draught at Upland locations in early January.

Beer Description: Despite its nearly black appearance, distinct roasted flavors are subdued in Upland Schwarz. Instead, traditional lager yeast and weeks of cold conditioning provide a crisp, clean character with subtle hints of chocolate, caramel, and German noble hops. 
ABV: 5.6    IBU: 26 

About the Brewery:  Located in Bloomington, Indiana, Upland’s rich history dates all the way back to 1998. Taking traditional recipes and making them a bit more awesome, Upland Brewing Co. came up with their own recipes rooted with inspiration from good beer and good friends, providing a fresh local option to their communities. The name Upland comes from the term geologists gave to this area of Southern Indiana land which was never overrun by the glaciers that flattened much of Indiana’s landscape. The adversity of the land bred independent thinkers who had strong wills, a connection to the land, and a wry sense of humor about life. Upland’s approach to brewing beer honors the spirit of these people and this place.
