Home Brew Competition Brings Added Fun To Whitestown Brew Fest

For Immediate Release

Participants at this year’s first annual Whitestown Brew Fest already know to expect a finely crafted list of participating breweries from across the state and Midwest, as well as great local entertainment and delicious food vendors serving up local fare during the festival. What they may not have been expecting is a large home brew competition that will run during the Whitestown Brew Fest.

And everyone there will get to pick the winner.

Running between 2:00 – 4:00 PM during the craft beer festival, every entrant at the festival will have a chance to sample beers from the 11 participating competitors and vote on their favorite beer in the style of a “hoppy ale.” Managing Editor and competition organizer Adam Schick says the decision on style was made with the home brewer’s in mind.

“We wanted to set a style that would give the competitors a lot of room to work within, while keeping the playing field somewhat even. This gives them the chance to brew everything from a hoppy wheat to a dark scotch ale and everything in between. We’re going to have some very diverse beers that will let the competitors’ talents shine.”

Votes will be tallied starting at 4:00 PM, with prizes being handed out shortly after. Competitors will be competing for upwards of $200 in gift certificates to Great Fermentations, trophies, and supplies of malt from Lebanon’s Sugar Creek Malt Farm.

Be sure to stop by the home brew tent at the Whitestown Brew Fest this Saturday to pick up your voting count and place your vote for your favorite home brew!
