Our mad scientist brewers are playing with hops!
Join us at Flat12 onThursday, August 13, at 6p for Beer Education: One Hop Shop. Flat12’s famous single-hop pale ale, Walkabout, is made with Galaxy hops from Australia. But what would Walkabout taste like with different hops? Get to know and identify different varieties of hops and learn to distinguish. You’ll be able to try Walkabout made with:
Sorachi Ace hops from Japan
Waimea hops from New Zealand
East Kent Golding hops from England
Belma hops from Sugar Creek Hops
They’ll also be experimenting with ‘deconstructed’ Walkabout. Walkabout has four hop additions throughout the brew, so they will be testing how it tastes using only one of the hop additions per batch.
Beer Education will include Sugar Creek Hops’ Alexandra Dawes discussing her local hops operation, and Flat12’s Sean Manahan and Eric Fox discussing hops in the brewery.

Heaven After Hell Rescue Shelter is a westside shelter saving lives. HAHR’s mission is to rescue the pets most in danger of euthanization on Death Row at high kill shelters. The shelter recently suffered a series of break ins, so is in desperate need of supplies for the animals.Here is a list of needed items.

*About #Flat12Paws dog brew: Flat12 brewers experimented with the recipe, coming up with a Smoking Goose stock blended with wort, the liquid extracted from the mashing process. The fresh wort, containing simple sugars and trace amounts of protein, is then blended in a keg with the Smoking Goose broth making a brew chock full of healthy vitamins and minerals, and a tasty treat for your furry friend.
