Two Years of The Guardian Brewing In Muncie Deserves A Party

by Mark E. Lasbury for Indiana On Tap

November 11th is a big day in Indiana craft beer. No fewer than three breweries are celebrating anniversaries that day, with The Guardian Brewing Co. in Muncie marking two years in business. Owners Bill Kerr and Jason Phillips, GM Kyle Johnson, along with head brewer Sean Fickle, have some great beers and food for craft beer fans at the new brewery at 514 E. Jackson Street in Muncie on the 11th.

The anniversary ale is in kegs as we speak. Called Super Awesome Party Time, this beer is brewed as small batch each year, but changes style at every brewing. This year’s version is an Imperial Red IPA using Galaxy, Citra, and Perle (for aroma) hops, and then double dry hopped with Amarillo and Citra hops for more citrus flavor and smell. There will also be infused beers via randall throughout the party, giving your favorite Guardian beers a different kick.

There will be food at the party as well. Fire & Brimstone Wood-Fired Pizza. Based in Portland, IN, Fire & Brimstone have a trailer on which they move their wood fired oven for making some of the best pizzas around. Try the meat lovers, but they are all great. After ordering or getting your pizza, head back inside because there will be music, raffles, and giveaways all day long, and you don’t want to miss a chance to win some The Guardian swag. The celebration will be on from noon to midnight, but the music and food will occur during the party proper, from 8 pm to close.

Music will be provided in the new taproom by The Meanies, an acoustic rock band from Muncie. Mike, Ryan, and Jason play their versions of Pink Floyd, Dylan, Neil Young, and others. The Guardian’s new brewery and taproom is perfect for big shows like this, with enough room for the band, the crowd, and people who just want some of that great beer.
