The work-in-progress Terre Haute Brewing Company is now aiming for an April 2nd opening, with the building undergoing major renovation, new equipment arriving daily, and sample brews being tried out.  “We’ve whipped up about 5 batches so far, trying some different things, but we are waiting on all the new tanks to arrive to really hit it hard,” says Brewmaster Mike Rowe, who is also overseeing the renovation.

New tanks will be arriving the first of January. The old brick interior walls have been sandblasted, wiring has been redone, heating and air conditioning have been upgraded, restrooms are under construction, the many windows have been repaired, skylights installed and the exterior of the building has been freshly painted. A couple of beautiful bars, salvaged from other local taverns, have been put in place.

The renovations are turning the already beautiful, historic Terre Haute Brewing Company building into what will be quite a showplace.

“We had a great building to work with already,” says President/Manager Jeff Hock.

I have been stopping in every couple of weeks and monitoring the progress. Bar manager Mike McBride, who is also serving as assistant brewer, gave me a taste of an oatmeal stout he was working on a couple of days after Christmas, and I was quite impressed with its quality.
