Sun King Brings Home Two Medals from the Great American Beer Festival:

“This year at the Great American Beer Festival, the battle between Good and Evil was waged… Bourbon Barrel-aged Batch 666: Sympathy for the Devil and Bourbon Barrel-aged Batch 777: Lonesome Dove went head to head in the Barrel-aged Strong Ale Category. Much to our delight, they both were awarded medals! Batch: 666 won a silver medal and Batch 777 took the gold. So in the end, good triumphed over evil, the Sun King Crew returned home victorious and good times were had by all.” – Clay Robinson

The 2014 GABF winners were selected and judged by 222 international beer experts.  A record number of 5,507 entries were received by 1,309 US craft breweries.  There were 107 entries in the Barrel-aged Strong Ale Category alone.  As the craft beer scene continues to grow in Indiana, as well as across the nation, the competition at GABF will progress.

We would like to congratulate our fellow Indiana breweries in their medal placements.

Movember Tapping & Costume Party:

It’s almost that time of year again when men shave their beards and grow mustaches for Movember to spread awareness of the charity and their devotion to the education and research of prostate cancer.

The Sun King Brew Crew has brewed up our annualMovember beer - this year’s brew is called Captain Sparkles - an Austrialian Sparkling Ale.  We will be hosting a tapping and costume party at the brewery on Thursday, October 30th.  The party will kickoff at 6:30pm with live music from Blue Moon Revue.

A portion of your Fresh•Local•Beer pint purchases will be donated to Movember Indy.  Brozzini’s Pizza will be serving pie by the slice and garlic knots.

We encourage all of the Mo’s and Mo Sistas to wear costumes (it’s close enough to Halloween after all)!  Sun King will be handing out prizes to the Top 3 costumes.

Sun King Brewery Fishers Expansion Update:
Our plans for Sun King Fishers continue move forward nicely. We have been working diligently with our friends at Ratio Architects to create a unique design that fits with the land and our vision for the future. Imagineering a facility from the ground up has proven more challenging than retrofitting an existing building, so while we won’t have things up and running by our sixth anniversary, we are on target for a fully functioning operation by fall… We will have the design concept to share soon and will keep you updated on our progress as things continue to take shape.
