Mad Anthony Brewing Company is celebrating the 16th anniversary of its first keg tapped at its downtown Fort Wayne location. This is the original location at the corner of Broadway and Taylor, and the company is inviting the community to join in celebrating this milestone April 14-20. Celebrations will take place at this location as well as all of their other taprooms – The Lake City Tap House, Warsaw; the Auburn Tap Room, Auburn; and the newest location in Angola, the Lakeview Alehouse and Reception Hall.

The week will be filled with all the things that have made Mad Anthony a northern Indiana favorite: from one-of-a-kind beer releases, to food specials for the whole family. The highlight of this celebration week will be the release of the anniversary ale.

Sweet Sixteen (9% ABV, IBUs 60) is an imperial IPA brewed in celebration of Mad Anthony’s 16th year. It was brewed with large amounts of pale malt, grown and processed in the United Kingdom, giving this beer a substantial malt backbone and a nice dose of sweetness to go with the pungent aromas and bitterness contributed by the American-grown Falconers Flight hops. Just within the past year or so, I have become familiar with this variety of hops with Dark Horse Brewing’s Falconer’s Flight Dekoorc Eert IPA. The brewers added large amounts of hops late in the fermentation to give the beer a very fresh hop aroma and flavor. Sweet Sixteen is fermented with Mad Anthony’s house ale yeast, which leaves a clean but fruity character to the beer.

Daily events are as follows:

Monday – Anniversary Sweet Sixteen release, retro pint night, select draft beers $2.
Tuesday – IPA tap takeover with 4+ IPAs, $5 growler fills on select beers, $14 large/$10 medium pizza – dine in only.
Wednesday – Mug club special $3 mugs, wine barrel aged sour beers: brown and raspberry, 50-cent smoked wings.
Thursday – $2 off all unwraps from 4 to 8 p.m., bourbon barrel-aged stout release, $10 pitchers on select beers.
Friday – Anniversary Sweet Sixteen growler fills 5 to 7 p.m., 5 p.m. – close Shigs in Pit ribs.
Saturday – $2 Scooby Snack baskets, live music 8 to 11 p.m.

This is definitely a beer and an anniversary worth celebrating. Join the Mad Anthony team at ano of their locations to get in on the fun.

About the brewery – Mad Anthony Brewing Company was opened in 1998, after three years of planning by Todd Grantham and Blaine Stuckey, old friends with similar interests that decided to turn passion into vocation. When they teamed up with friend Jeff Neels, who headed-up restaurant operations, in 1999, the trio had all the pieces to create a truly unique brewing/dining experience. Together they bought Ft. Wayne’s Munchie Emporium with the goal of creating a brew house. These days, Mad Anthony brews more than 2,100 barrels of beer annually from the tanks located on-site and operates location in Auburn, Angola, and Warsaw, along with their new BBQ concept Shigs in Pit located at the corner of Fairfield and Taylor, Downtown Ft. Wayne.
